He was a staunch devotee of shri gOpAla dAsaru and shri rAyaru. Both appeared in his dream and asked him to do seve at manthrAlaya. There rAyaru appeared in front of him and gOpAla dAsaru gave him the ankita of Prasanna Srinivasa.
In one of his dEvaranAmAs he describes how shri gOpAla dAsaru took him to witness the samsthAna pUje by shri vidyAprasanna tIrtharu of sOsale vyAsarAja maTa.
He has written commentaries on the Brahmasootras, Bhagavata, Vishnu Sahasranama. His bhashyas are very unique and are mostly in the form of stutis. He has also composed detailed biographies of Madhwa saints and dAsarus. Please visit the below link for English exposition of some stotras and Vishnusahaaranama.
He created a huge hari dAsa parampare. This includes his own daughter, who is a Ph.D. in Sanskrit and lives in Honnavara.

Sri Prasanna Shreenivasa Dasaru was born in Tamil Nadu but spent most of the years in Bangalore. He never wanted to be identified as per his wish, so he is not known to many of Madhwas though he was living till 1995 in Bangalore. He was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu and didn't know how to write in Kannada although he was speaking Kannada at home. He was writing kannada in Sanskrit lipi. His name was Prushottamachar and ankita being 'prasannashreenivasa'.
He has written hundreds of Devaranama which I have stored in my blog
