name: bilvapatri acharya
gurugaLu: shri araLIkaTTI narasimhAchArya
kaTTe: hattibeLagal
vaishAka shuddha shashTi is the puNya thithi of shri biLvapatri Acharyaru.
The "bADada" family was recognized by sriman mantralaya prabhugaLu. In the house of this family in hattibeLagal village, mantralaya prabhugaLu had done the pratishTApane of shri mukhyaprANa dEvaru - the only one mukhyaprANa pratishTApane that he had done. A well was built in the village by Adoni Divan Venkanna Pantulu for the worship. All the subsequent swAmIjIs of manthrAlaya parampare continued to recognize this family. In the same family, came shri bADada venkaTa narasimhAchArya. He came to be called "bilwapatri Acharya" because he used to partake bilavapatri in yoghurt every day.
Acharya got educated from shri araLikaTTi Sri narasimhAchArya, a great scholar from hatthibeLagal. There were others who also studied under araLikaTTi AchArya along with biLvapatri AchArya - puttAchArya, sunkada srInivAsAchArya, kIraNi pAnDurangAchArya and muttigi srInivAsAcharya (he became shri raghuprEma tIrtharu in kUDali akshObhya tIrtha maTa later).
shri biLwapatri AchAryaru performed the samskAra of araLikaTTI Acharya in his own field. After his demise, shri araLikaTTi AchArya gave his darshana to one rudrappa. When all the shishyAs prayed for the darshaNa of AraLikaTTi AchAryaru, biLvapatri AchAryaru mentioned how and where shri araLIkaTTi AchAryaru can be seen.
biLvapatri Acharya gave away his daughter in marriage to sri srInivAsAcharya, the third son of shri jambukhandi vAdirAjAcharya, who was a staunch beleiver in the rujutva of shri vAdirAja gurusArvabhowmaru.
When biLvapatri AchArya reached haripAda, his kaTTe was built next to the kaTTe of his guru. There are 2 tamarind trees next to his kaTTe. These were 2 shishyAs of biLvaptri AchAryaru, who had requested an opportunity to serve him. At that time, AchAryaru had mentioned that post his reaching haripAda, they would be reborn as tamarind trees next to his kaTTe and would serve him in that manner. These trees are not cut any time even to this day.
