Purushottama Thirtharu is the ashrama gurugalu of Sri Brahmanya Thirtharu.

Purushottama Thirtharu is the ashrama gurugalu of Sri Brahmanya Thirtharu.

Sri Purushottama Theertharu is tenth in the authorized lineage of Sri Madhvacaryaru. No further information is available.

Sri Purushottama Theertharu lived mostly at Channapatna or Abbur in Karnataka. He had his own monastery, which he later entrusted to his disciple Sri Sridhara Theertharu. This monastery survives today and is called the Kundapura Vyasaraja Mutt. Sri Purushottama Theertharu’s accredited literary work was a gloss on the Tatparya of Sri Jaya Theertharu. He departed the world in 1416.

Sri. Brahmanya Theertharu is the direct desciple of Sri Purshottama Theertharu

Sri Purushottama Theertha took ashrama from Sri Jayadhwaja Theertha. He is Tenth saint from Madhwacharya.

He is guru of great tapasvi Sri Brahmanya Theertha and he is believed to be Poorvashrama brother of Sri Brahmanya Theertha. After handing over mahasamsthana to Sri Brahmanya Theertha, he entered alive in a cave near Abbur. The cave has got the name of Purushottama Theertha guha because of his great tapas.

|| ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮಪಾದಾಬ್ಜಹೃದಯಶ್ಯಾಸ್ತ್ರಕೋವಿದ: | 

 ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮತೀರ್ಥಾಖ್ಯೋ ಗುರುರ್ಭುಯಾದಭೀಷ್ಟದ: ||

ವಿಶ್ವಗುರು ಶ್ರೀಮನ್ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಮೂಲಮಹಾಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಮಹಾಪುರುಷರು ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಆರಾಧನಾ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವ. ನಮಗೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ತೀರ್ಥರಂತಹ  ಮಹಾ ಜ್ನ್ಯಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಂತಹವರು , ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರ ಪರಮಗುರುಗಳು ,   ಇಂದಿಗೂ ನಿಜಭಕ್ತರಿಗೆ ದರ್ಶನ ಕೊಡುವವರು.

ಆರಾಧನಾ ಪರ್ವ ದಿನ : ಚೈತ್ರ ಶುದ್ಧ ಪಾಡ್ಯ ( ಯುಗಾದಿ ಪರ್ವದಿನ) 

ಮಹಾತಪಸ್ವಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಪೂರ್ವಾಶ್ರಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನಮಗೆ ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಒಂದು ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬ್ಬುರಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಪೂಗವನ ವಂಶಸ್ತರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಾಚಾರ್ಯ ಎಂಬುವರ ಪುತ್ರ ಶ್ರೀ ನರಸಿಂಹ ಎಂಬ ವಟುವು, ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪನಯನಸ್ತನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ,   ಅತ್ಯಂತ ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ತೇಜಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ವಟು ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ, ವ್ಯಾಸಂಗ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಆ ಬಾಲಕನ ತೇಜಸ್ಸು ಕಂಡು ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ದ್ವೈತಸಿದ್ದಾಂತ, ತತ್ವಸಿದ್ದಾಂತಗಳ ಪಾಠ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರಿಗೆ ಈ ಬಾಲಕನಿಗೆ ಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಕನಸಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 

ಮುಂದೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರಿಗೆ ಈ ಬಾಲಕನಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವಗುರು ಶ್ರೀ ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಶ್ರೀಮೂಲಗೋಪಾಲ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ತತ್ವಸಿದ್ದಾಂತ ಪ್ರಚಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ  ಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮುಂದೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾವು ಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅಬ್ಬುರಿನ ಸಮೀಪದ ಒಂದು ಗುಹೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚೈತ್ರ ಶುದ್ಧ  ಪಾಡ್ಯ  (ಯುಗಾದಿ) ದಂದು  ಲೌಕಿಕರಿಗೆ ಅದೃಶ್ಯರಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.  ನಂತರ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ತೀರ್ಥರಿಗೆ ತಾವು ಅದೃಶ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ  ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಪಾಠಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. 

ಇವರ ಕುರಿತಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೃತಿಗಳು ಈ ವರೆಗೆ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜ ಮಠದ ಯತಿಪರಂಪರೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ತೀರ್ಥರು ರಚಿಸಿದ " ಶ್ರೀ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ವಿಜಯ"  ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ದೊರೆತಿವೆ . 

ನನಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಅಬ್ಬುರಿನ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರನ್ನು  ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದಾಗ  ಈಗಲೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಸಂಚಾರ  ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು  ಆಗಾಗ  ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ  ಹುಲಿಯಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತು ಸಂಚರಿಸುವಾಗ  ದರ್ಶನ  ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂಬ  ನುಡಿಗಳು  ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇವೆ.  ಇತ್ತೀಚ್ಚಿಗೆ  ಇವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದ  ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಕೂಡ  ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದವರು  ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.  ಸದಾ  ಜ್ನ್ಯಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಗೋಚರರಾಗುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಅಪಾರವಾದದ್ದು. ಈಗಲೂ  ಗುಹೆಯ  ಮುಂದೆ ಮುಖ್ಯಪ್ರಾಣದೇವರ ವಿಗ್ರಹ , ದುರ್ಗಮವಾದ ಗುಹಾದಲ್ಲಿ  ಇಂದಿಗೂ ತಪೋನಿರತರಾದವರು. 

ಹೀಗೆ ಅನೇಕಮಹಿಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ತೋರುತ್ತ  ಸದ್ಭಕ್ತರ  ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ  ಸರ್ವತಾ ಪೊರೆಯುವ  ಗುರುಗಳು, ನಮಗೂ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಹರಿವಾಯುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ  ನೀಡಲಿ  ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾಥಿಸುತ್ತ, ಲೋಪದೋಷಗಳು  ಇದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ  ನನ್ನದೇ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ  ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ  ತೀರ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಈ  ಲೇಖನ ಪುಷ್ಪ  ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ .
