ವಿದ್ಯಾಶ್ರೀಸಿಂಧುಯತಿರಾಡ್ಡದ್ಯಾದ್ವಿದ್ಯಾಂ ಮುರದ್ವಿಷಃ

During severe drought in 1877, he donated all the mutt property to the public to come out of the crisis and helped the people. He made Digvijaya to Udupi in his tenure. It may not be wrong to say that after Sri Vyasaraja, he is the only saint in his parampare to visit Udupi.
After handing over mahasamsthana to Sri Vidya Sridhara Theertha, he entered Vrundavana at Sosale.

When there was a severe famine in the Mysore state around 1875, he sold nearly 1000KG of gold in the maTa to purchase grains from other places and distribute to the needy. He did this for a long period of time. Hence he is affectionately called "akki-bele" Swamigalu. This event was predicted by shri vidyA vallabha tIrtharu, more than 60 years back. When Diwan Poorniah had donated the gold to the maTa, shri vidyAvallabha tIrtharu had said that "sindhu would come and convert your gold to grains and your family would get the blessings". What a mahAn!
For the purchase of grains in exchange of gold, shri vidyAshrisindhu tIrtharu had taken the services of one of the highly leaned disciples of the maTa. He later annointed him as his successor and named him shri vidyAshrIdhara tIrtharu.
