He was a highly learned scholar and a vairagya-shikAmaNi. During his tour he came to place called kabaLi kaTTe, near bhadrAvati. At that time there was huge famine and people did not even have drinking water. Seeing their suffering, he could not proceed further and decided to stay there. He built a hut for his pUja. As he was well versed in AyurvEda, he treated and cured people of illness.
Sri Mummudi Krishnaraja Wodeyaru came there and was astonished to see a yati take care of people. He met swamiji and granted him lands. He also named the place where swamiji stayed as "majjige halli". The mata came to be known as majjigehalli mata at that time.
His brindAvana is a vibrant place and he has apperared in the dreams of people and instructed them on what he wants around his brindAvana. There are people even today who have seen him take bath in the river and get back into the brindAvana. He instructed his vamshIkaru to relocate his brindAvana to the current place.
The praNadEvaru behind his brindAvana is also very jAgruta and blesses people.
