shri sudhIndra tIrtharu was a great scholar and popularly known as abhinava rushyashrunga. He had attained siddhi in krishNa manthra. He lived for 100 years.
He gave sanyasa to the third son, gOpAlAcharyA, of his pUrvAshrama brother, venkatakrishNachArya and named him sujnAnEndra tIrtharu.
shri sujnAnEndra tIrtharu was succeeded by the present pITAdhipati, shri Sugunendra tIrtharu.

Sri Sudheendra Theertha took Ashrama from Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha of Krishnapura mutt and ruled the Peeta for 79 years. He born in the year 1856 at Hejamadi village belongs to Yajurveda shakha. He took sanyasa in 1878. He got his initial education from Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha and later studied Sudha and other higher education under Sri Lakshmivallabha Theertha of Shiroor mutt. At the request of his Ashrama guru, he gave sanyasa to Sri Vidyapoorna Theertha and appointed him as head of Krishnapura mutt after the demise of Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha. During renovation of garbha gudi of Udupi Krishna, he played major role in lifting the idol and keep it on Simhasana and again reinstalling in its original position. He started ‘Srimanmadhwasiddhantaprabodhini’ school in Udupi. He also gave sanyasa to Sri Vidyaratna Theertha of Krishnapura mutt. He was rewarded as ‘Yatikula Chakravarty’ in 1944 by saints of other ashta mutts. He completed 4 paryayas of Krishna Pooja. His centenary celebrations took place in 1956. During this time, Adamaru mutt saint Sri Vibudhesha Theertha conducted silver tulabhara. With that silver only chariot was built for Udupi Krishna.

He also gave sanyasa to Sri Raghumanya Theertha of Balegaru Akshobhya mutt, Sri Krishnadasa Theertha of Adiudupikere mutt. He was a great tapasvi. Many couples who were childless became parents with his blessings. He installed the idols of Ramachandra and Mukhyaprana in Bangalore, Chalakur village in Penugonda taluk and Chikkur village near Hindupur etc. He died in the year 1957.
After handing over Peeta to Sri Sugnanendra Theertha he entered Vrundavana at Udupi.

of Sri Puthige Matha. One of the most respected Swamiji’s in the ashta matha tradition of Udupi, Sri Sudheendra Theertha Swamiji lived a glorious 100 years and spread the Krishna Mantra to deserving devotees.
Born in 1856, in a small village called Hejamadi near Udupi, Krishna Upadhyaya was initiated into the sacred Acharya Madhwa monastic order in 1878 and was given the name Sri Sudheendra Theertha by his Guru Sri Vidhyadheesha Theertha Swamiji. Sri Sudheendra Theertha Swamiji was the 27th pontiff of Puthige Matha and completed a fulfilling 4 paryayas in each of which he undertook several initiatives for the welfare of the devotees.
He lived a very simple life and was renowned for his enlightenment of the Krishna Mantra.
To every devotee that met him, Swamiji blessed him with the Krishna Mantra. Several devotees have reported their spiritual and material prosperity after being blessed by the Swamiji.
All the Swamis of the eight mathas regarded him with utmost respect and reverence. In 1956, Adamaru Swamiji organised the Silver Tulabhara during the centenary year of Sri Sudheendra Theertha Swamiji and within the year dedicated a silver chariot to Lord Krishna in his remembrance.
Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji has had a special place in his heart for his parama guru. In his second paryaya, he dedicated the “Swagata Gopura” or the “Welcome Arch” to Sri Sudheendra Theertha Swamiji that continues to welcome devotees into its fold even today.
On this auspicious day of his aradhane, let us all chant his favourite holy mantra “Swami Sri Gopalakrishnaya Namaha” & “Swami Sri Praneshaya Namaha” to fulfill our spiritual and material needs.
