rajendra teertharu matha puthige mutt yati 25a ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ತೀರ್ಥರು

Sri Rajendra Theertha
Sri Rajendra Theertha took Ashrama from Sri Bhuvanendra Theertha. He did not rule the Peeta as he died before his guru. He was an outstanding scholar. He won the debate in Kashi over his opponents. Once he made a visit to Mysore and at the request of king he stayed near the palace. At that time he came to know that his guru Sri Bhuvanendra Theertha had arrived in Mysore. Then he went to his guru and offered him one pot golden coins which he got for his victories without visiting kings palace. This way he respected his guru and then he visited kings palace at his request. King was astonished about swamiji’s guru bhakti and offered both of them one pot golden coins separately. Because of this Puttige mutt came to known as ‘Putthali matha’ from this time onwards. It is believed that he used to have debate with Sri Vidyapati Theertha of Krishnapura mutt many times. Once during such debate both became angry and cursed each other and both died in chikkapatta.
