Naik family was engaged in the trade of silver, gold, diamond and pearl and shifted to Dharwar to pursue their business. His father’s name was Dhumappa Nayak who had two wives.
Thammanna was keenly observing panchebeda gnana, taratamya and also observing without fail ekadashi and harivasara. Observing Thammanna’s disciplined life in that young age, Sri Beemavarahachar used to call him as ‘Rishi’. Thammanna got married at the right age and had two children. His wife died when he was twenty two years old and he was not interested in marrying for the second time.
Karampondi –
In Karampoondi we can also see Anjaneya Temple near Swamiji Brindhavan where we can see all the three orms Hanuma, Bhemma and Madhwa in a single idol.
In Polur Lord Narashima swamy temple is situated in a hill. The Uthsava muthri’s face is the face of Lord Narashima, you cannot find such a murthi any where. Sankarshana Odeyaru had his brindhavana in Karampoondi where the shadow of the hill falls. The lord Narashima has various mahimas in which I experienced in my life.
Thammanna reached Udupi and mastered the 37 Sarvamoola under the guidance of Sri Vishwapriya Theertharu of Sodhe Matha.
Thammanna Nayak meets Satya Parayana Tirtharu –
Meanwhile, Sri Satya Santhushta Thirtharu and Sri Satya Sankalpa Thirtharu were doing Sri Rama Vedavyasa puje at the same place for years. The Uttaradimutt had pledged its Navarathna Mantapa and the golden gangala with Ramanna, the brother of Thammanna, when it had landed in dues as the Mutt could not meet the expenditure out of the reserve funds.
After some years, Sri Satya Parayana Thirtharu took over the reins of the matha after Sri Satya Santhusta Thirtharu. Srigalu during his sanchara camped at Ramanna Nayak’s house and performed Sri Rama Vedavyasara puje for two months. One day, he spoke to Ramanna and said, ‘Ramanna, my puje seems to be incomplete, my mind wanders away in seeing Rama without the rathna mantapa. I will do sanchara and will repay from the contributions I receive thus towards the pledged items. You may send your representative along with me to whom the money will be deposited. Ramanna agreed to this and Thammanna joined the entourage of Srigalu with the main intention of doing teertha yatra and also to collect the dues. Thus Thammanna Nayak joined the seer with the intention of collecting dues for his cousin.
But, during the sanchara, Thammanna not willing to waste the time in just collecting the money for his cousin, also started studying under Sri Satya Parayana Thirtharu the Sarvamoola shastras once again. After mastering the shastras and granthas, Thammanna did ‘mangala’ . Thammanna asked Satyaparayana Tirtharu as to what Guru DakshiNe, he has to give. Srigalu asked Thammanna to consider the navrathna mantapa and gangala pledged with his brother as guru dakshina. Thammanna without hesitation and with detached mind gave up the items as guru dakshina to Rama Vedavyasaru. Srigalu told Thammanna to send message to his brother clearing his dues. As per his guidance, Thammanna drafted two letters to his brother Ramanna, one letter certifying that all dues have been received from the matha and the second one requesting that the navarathna mantapa and the golden gangala be delivered to the matha’s messenger.
Thammanna’s vairagya –
Ramanna who received the letters, delivered the pledged items of the matha through the messenger. The matha’s debt was cleared and the pledged items were restored, seeing the idol of Rama in his gloriest past and having found a great shishya in Thammanna, Sri Satyaparayana Thirtharu was very happy and continued his sanchara to propagate madhwa philosophy.
Ramannna spent good time in waiting for the money collected from the matha which was not forthcoming. There was no response for his letter from Thammanna. So Ramanna went in search of Thammanna and learnt that the amount was not recovered from the Mutt and Thammanna had given the receipt to Mutt, without recovering any dues.
Thammanna told his brother to take his share of property and relieve him from dues, which Ramanna agreed and kept the remaining property with himself, after adjusting the dues of Mutt. Thus Thammanna showed his vairagya for the share of property and sacrificed for the Mutt.
Thammanna becomes Sankarshana Odeyaru :
Thammanna at the age of 32 years left for Udupi to get guru upadesha and sanyasa ashrama from Sri Satya Parayana Theertharu. Srigalu tried to convince him that he should remain a grahastha. Ramanna also pleaded with his brother to reconsider his decision – all efforts failed and Thammanna was determined to have sanyasa ashrama. Finally, Srigalu gave him sanyasa ashrama and named him as Sri Sankarshana Wodeyaru and gave him a silver Sri Venugopala Vigraha for his daily puje. Sri Sankarshanaru stayed in his house for some time and shifted to Sri Vittala Swamy temple in the agrahara and lived on bikshe offered to him. He went on yatre to Tirupati and the Sri Venkatesha appeared in his swapna and directed him to go to Sholingur (Gatikachalam) for the darshan of Sri Yoga Narasimha and Sri Yoga Anjaneya. After his Sholingur yatre, Sri Sankarshanaru proceeded to Vellore and stayed there for nine years – he re-organised the matha activities.
Vrundavana Pravesha :
In 1862, Margasirsha maasa, suddha panchami, dundhubi samvatsara, Sri Sankarshana Wodeyar entered Vrundavana at Karampoondi. Since then regular puje and aradhana continues without fail. An eyewitness account of the vrundavana pravesha of Sri Wodeyaru gives us a clear picture of the event. Sri Sankarshanaru instructed his disciple Sanjeevi Rao to make necessary arrangements for the brundavana pravesha suitable for a yathi. Sanjeevi Rao along with others prepared the place, cleaned and made all arrangements. After some months Sri Sankarshanaru appeared in the swapna of Sanjeevi Rao and said that his instructions have not been carried out properly. While examining the site the next day, Sanjeevi Rao and other devotees were surprised to see that Sri Wodeyaru as ‘jadadhari’ and all the gopichandana mudras were as fresh as on the day of vrundavana. Eight months after this incident, a brundavana was raised at the site.

Venkataramana achar, who was blessed by Sri Sankarshanaru had composed Sri Sankarshana Kavacham, Kalpadharu Stotra, Mangalashtakam and Navarathna Malika.

Long back, We visited Sathyavijaya Nagara during the Aradhana of Sri SathyaVijaya Theertharu. During that time, We visited Brindavana of Sri Sankarshana Wodeyaru, Karapoondi .
I know only 2 things about Sankarshana wodeyaru:
He has written commentary for Jagannatha dasaru’s Magnum-opus “Harikathamruta saara”
He strictly advised his disciples to give Parched rice/Murmura as neivedhya for everyday. Except Aradhana, Only Parched rice is kept as Neivedhya to Sri Sankarshana wodeyaru
Recently, I happen to talk to Raghavendra Rao sir(Whom I know thru Facebook) and He gave me a lot of information and history about Sri Sankarshana Wodeyaru thru the phone call. Birth & Life:
Dhumappa Naik(A Merchant of Gold, Silver, Pearl) whose native was Gurlahosur, Later moved to Dharwar for expanding their family business. He had two wives. Sri Sankarshana wodeyar(Poorvashrama name: Tammana Naik) born as second son to his second wife. It is believed He was born with the blessings of Sri Sathya Dharma theertharu, to whom Tamanna Naik’s mom had done seva
At the right age, Upanayana was performed and Tammanna naik did veda shasthra adhyayana under Bheemavarahachar.
In Right time, he got married and blessed with two children. Unfortunately he lost his wife at early age of 22
Pilgrimage to Udupi
Tammanna naik wanted to study Sarvamoola granthas. So he traveled all the way to Udupi. With the blessings of Udupi krishna, Under the guidance of Sri Vishwapriya thirtharu of Sode Math, He mastered sarvamoola granthagalu and did Sudha Mangala there
Met Sri Sathyaparayana thirtharu
Sri Satya Santhushta Thirtharu and Sri Satya Sankalpa Thirtharu were doing Sri Rama Vedavyasa puje at the same place for years. Due to some debts, They pledged the priceless navarathna mantapa of Sri Rama Vedavyasa devaru, and the golden gangala to Ramanna Nayak, brother of Thammanna.
After some years, Sri Satya Parayana Thirtharu the then pontiff of Uttaradhi math during his sanchara visited Ramanna Nayak’s house. One day, he spoke to Ramanna and explained his feeling that Rama devara pooja is incomplete without navarathna mantapa. He also added that he will do sanchara and will repay from the contributions .He also added to send a representative from Ramanna side so that he will settle all his dues thru the representative. Ramanna accepted this and Thammanna joined Srigalu with the main motiveof doing teertha yatra and also to collect the dues.
During Sanchara, Tamanna used the opportunity of learning shasthras from Sri Sathya parayana thirtharu once again and performed sudha mangala. Tamanna asked Srigalu about what he should give as Guru dakshine. for that Srigalu requested Tammanna to return the Navarathna mantapa and golden gangala back to Matha.
Tamanna agreed to this and As per srigalu guidance, Thammanna wrote two letters to his brother Ramanna, one letter stating that all dues have been received from the matha and the second one requesting that the navarathna mantapa and the golden gangala to be delivered to the matha’s representative.
Matha’s debts were cleared and all the pledges items were restored successfuly by sri Sathya Parayana thirtharu and He was very happy to perform Moola rama pooja in Navarathna mantapa. He continued his sanchara and propogated MAdhwa philosophy
Ramanna waited for so long to get all his settlements from Tamanna. But Tamanna didnt turned up. Ramanna went in search of Tamanna and got to know what had happened.
He returned home with heavy heart. Tamanna realised the loss he has bought for his brother. Instantly he decided to gave all his share of wealth to Ramanna.
Ramanna’s loss was made good and Tamanna had his search on something else
Thamanna became Sankarshana Wodeyaru
Tamanna once again visited udupi and took an oath to follow sanyasashrama.He wandered in search of Shri Sathya parayan thirtharu. He met Srigalu and asked him to offer sanyasa diksha. Though srigalu tried to convince Tamanna , Later on seeing his stubborn mind, He gave sanyashrama to Tamanna and named him as Sri Sankarshana wodeyaru at the age of 32 years
Visit to Tirupathi
Sri sankarshana wodeyar traveled to Tirupathi. He did tapas at the sannidhana of Lord Varaha for nearly 2 months
During his stay there, Sri Venkateswara swamy appeared in his dream and directed him to visit Gatikachala(Sholingur, Lord Narasimha temple & Yoga anjaneya temple)
Later after visiting Ghatikachala, Again sri Venkateshwara swamy appeared in his dream and asked him to go to Vellore and solve the problems caused by one achar to the pooja at Sri Sathyadhiraja thirtharu brindavana sthala
Moved to Vellore
Sri sankarshana wodeyaru moved to Vellore and stayed 9 long years and restored the matha activitied and pooja to Sri Sathyadhiraja thirtharu
Sri Sathyaparayana thirtharu during his visit to vellore, felt happy on seeing matha activities and pooja to Sri Sathyadhiraja thirtharu
Reached Karapoondi(Final Destination)
Later Sri Sankarshana wodeyaru started his sanchara and on his disciple’s request, he decided to stay at Karapoondi village near Polur

ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಮಾಧ್ವಪಂಡಿತರ ದಾರಿದ್ರ್ಯ ವಿಚ್ಛೇದವಾಗುವಂತೆ ವಿಪುಲವಾಗಿ ದಕ್ಷಿಣೆಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ಅಂದಿನ ಉತ್ತರಾದಿಮಠಾಧೀಶರಾದ ಶ್ರೀಸತ್ಯಸಂತುಷ್ಟತೀರ್ಥರು, ಶ್ರೀಮಠದ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪ ಹಾಗು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಕೊಳಗ ಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣನಾಯಕರ ಅಣ್ಣಂದಿರಾದ ರಾಮಾನಾಯಕ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡವಿಟ್ಟು 40 ಸಹಸ್ರ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಲ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಹಣವನ್ನು ದೇಶದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಲು, ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರ ದಾರಿದ್ರ್ಯ ಇಂಗಿಹೋಗಿ ಶ್ರೀಮಠದ ಸಾಲವು ಬಡ್ಡಿಗೆ ಬಡ್ಡಿ ಸೇರಿ ಹೆಮ್ಮರದಂತಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಶ್ರೀಸತ್ಯಸಂತುಷ್ಟತೀರ್ಥ ರ ನಂತರ ಪೀಠಕ್ಕೆಬಂದ ಶ್ರೀಸತ್ಯಪರಾಯಣತೀರ್ಥರು, ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಧಾರವಾಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪ ರಹಿತ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮದೇವರ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಖಿನ್ನ ನಾದ ರಾಮಾನಾಯಕ ರು, ಅಡಿವಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪ ಹಾಗು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಕೊಳಗ ಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳಿ ಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ, ತಮಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲ ವಾದಾಗ ಸಾಲವನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸಬಹುದೆಂದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಇದರಿಂದ ತುಷ್ಟರಾದ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು, ಓರ್ವ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗನೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮಜೊತೆ ಕಳಿಸಿದರೇ ನಿತ್ಯದಲ್ಲೂ ನಡೆಯುವ ಪಾದಪೂಜೆಯ ಕಟ್ಟಡಿಯಿಂದ ಬರುವ ಹಣವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿಸುವದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಾಲವನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ವಚನದಂತೆ ಸಾಲವಸೂಲಿಗಾಗಿ ಆಗತಾನೆ ಸೋದೆಮಠದ ಶ್ರೀವೃಂದಾವನಾಚಾರ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ಮುಗಿಸಿಬಂದ ತನ್ನ ಸೋದರ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣನಾಯಕ ನನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ಕಳಿಸಿದನು.
ಕೆಲವೇ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾದಪೂಜೆ ಯಿಂದ ಸಂದಾಯವಾದ ಹಣ ವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು , ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣನಾಯಕರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಶ್ರೀಮಠ ದ ಸಾಲವು ತೀರಿಹೋಗಿತು. ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಪಾಠ ಪ್ರವಚನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ಮಯನಾದ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣನಾಯಕ ನು ಆ ಹಣವನ್ನು ಪುನ; ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ಗುರುದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಿನ ಆಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾಗಿ ಅಣ್ಣ ರಾಮಾನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನಪಡಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ 32ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಸತ್ಯಪರಾಯಣತೀರ್ಥ ರಿಂದ ತುರ್ಯಾಶ್ರಮ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ, ಶ್ರೀಸಂಕರ್ಷಣಒಡೆಯ ರೆಂಬ ನಾಮಾಂಕಿತದಿಂದ ಖ್ಯಾತರಾದರು. ಧಾರವಾಡ, ಹೊಳೆಹೊನ್ನೂರುನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಕಾಲ ಕಠಿಣ ಆಹಾರನಿಯಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಗುರುದತ್ತ ಶ್ರೀವೇಣುಗೋಪಾಲಮೂರ್ತಿ ಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತಾ ತಪಸ್ಸಾ ಚಿಸಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ತಿರುಮಲೆ ಗೆ ಬಂದು ಹತ್ತಿರವಿದ್ದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರ ವನ್ನು ದಾನಮಾಡಿ, ಘಟಿಕಾಚಲ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವಾರತರಾದರು. ವೇಲೂರಿ ನ ಶ್ರೀಸತ್ಯಾಧಿರಾಜತೀರ್ಥ ರ ಸೇವಾಮಾಡಿ ರಾಮೇಶ್ವರ ಯಾತ್ರಾ ಫಲ ಪಡೆದರು. ತಿರುಪತಿ ಯ ಸಮೀಪವಿರುವ ಚಿತ್ತೂರು ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರಿಗೆ ಸೂತ್ರ ಭಾಷ್ಯಾದಿ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳನ್ನು, ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಕಥಾಮೃತಸಾರ ದ ಪ್ರಮೇಯ ಗಳನ್ನು ಬೋಧಿಸುವ ದಲ್ಲದೇ ಭಕ್ತರ ಉದ್ಧಾರ ಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು. ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿ ನ ಕರಂಪುಂಡಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಬಾಹುದಾ ನದೀ ತೀರದ ಸಂಪದ್ಗಿರಿ ಶ್ರೀನಾರಸಿಂಹದೇವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಗೋಪುರ ದ ನೆರಳು ಬೀಳುವ ಅಶ್ವರ್ಥವೃಕ್ಷ ದ ಸಮೀಪ ವಿರುವ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ವೃಂದಾವನ ಮಾಡಿರೆಂದು ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿ, ಕ್ರೀ. ಶ. 1862ನೇ ದುಂದುಭಿ ಸಂವತ್ಸರ ಮಾರ್ಗಶೀರ್ಷ ಪಂಚಮಿ ದಿನದಂದು ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಪಾದ ಸೇರಿದರು. ರುದ್ರಾಂಶ ರೆಂದೇ ಖ್ಯಾತರಾದ ಇಂದಿನ ಕಥಾನಾಯಕರು, ಶ್ರೀಜಗನ್ನಾಥದಾಸ ರ ಅತ್ಯದ್ಭುತ ಮೇರುಕೃತಿ ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಕಥಾಮೃತಸಾರ ಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾಕೃತವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಇಂದು ಮಾಹಾನುಭಾವರಾದ ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಕಥಾಮೃತಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ವ್ಯಾಖಾನವನ್ನು ಬರೆದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸಂಕರ್ಶಣ ಒಡೆಯರ ಆರಾಧನೆ .ಆ ಮಹಾ ಯತಿಗಳ ಚರಿತ್ರೆ ತ್ಯಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ನಿದರ್ಶನ .
ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಧರ್ಮ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಸಂಕಲ್ಪ ತೀರ್ಥರು . ಇವರು ಸಂಚಾರ ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಧಾರ್ವಾಡದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಕರ್ಜಗಿ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬರಗಾಲ . 12 ವರ್ಷ ಬರಗಾಲ ಇತ್ತು . ಆ ಪೂರ್ತಿ 12 ವರ್ಷ ಸತ್ಯ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದು ಮಠದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಆಸ್ತಿ ,ಬಂಗಾರ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಧಾರವಾಡ ದ ಧರ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕರು ಅನ್ನುವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒತ್ತಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ಸಾಲ ತಗೊಂಡರು . 12 ವರ್ಷ ಬರಗಾಲ ಮುಗಿಯೋ ತನಕ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದು ಇಡೀ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಊರು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಜಾತಿ ಭೇದ ಭಾವ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾರಿಗೂ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಮಠದಿಂದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿದರು.ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಸಂಕಲ್ಪ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಇರೋ ಕಾಲದ ತನಕ ಸಾಲ ತೀರಲಿಲ್ಲ . ಒತ್ತಿ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ ಬಂಗಾರ ಮಂಟಪ etc ಇನ್ನೂ ಧರ್ಮನ್ನ ನಾಯಕರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನೇ ಇತ್ತು . ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪರ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು -ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಸಂತುಷ್ಟರು ಬಹಳ ದಿನ ಪೀಠದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ . ಅವರ next ಬಂದವರು ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯ ಪರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು .
ಈಗ ಏನಾಗಿತ್ತು ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಧರ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕರ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಮಠ ಕ್ಕೆ ಏನಾಗ್ತಾ ಇದೆ , ನಮ್ಮ ಸಾಲ ಯಾವಾಗ ತೀರಿಸ್ತಾರೆ ನೋಡು ಅಂತ ಹೇಳಿ ಮಠ ದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಇರ್ಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು . ಮಠ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಪರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಪಾಠ ಕೇಳಿ ಕೇಳಿ ಜ್ಞಾನ- ವೈರಾಗ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆಯಿತು . ಸುಧಾ ಪಾಠವೂ ಆಯ್ತು . ಗುರು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಏನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು? ಹೇಳಿರಿ ಅಂತ ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ, ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಮಠದ ಆಸ್ತಿ ಹೇಂಗಾದರೂ ಬಿಡಿಸಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಅಲ್ಪ ಸಹಾಯವಾದರೂ ಸಾಕು ಅಂದಾಗ , ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ಭಟ್ಟರು ತಮ್ಮ ಅಣ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಪತ್ರ ಬರೆದು ಕಳಿಸಿದರು . ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಾಲ ತೀರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಠ ದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಬಂಗಾರ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಳಿಸಿ ಕೊಡಿ ಅಂತ . ಸರಿ ಅಂತ ಹೇಳಿ ಧರ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕರು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಳಿಸಿದರು. ಮತ್ತೆ ಹಣ ಕೊಡು ಅಂತ ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ,ನನ್ನ ಪಾಲಿನ ಆಸ್ತಿನೂ ನೀನೇ ತಗೋ ಅಣ್ಣ , ಸಾಲದ value ಕಿಂತ ಜಾಸ್ತಿನೇ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ ಅಂತ ಹೇಳಿ ದೊಡ್ದ ಆಸ್ತಿನೇ ಗುರುದಕ್ಷಿಣ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮಾಡಿದರು . ಇಂಥ ಬಹಳ ದೊಡ್ದ ತ್ಯಾಗ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕರದ್ದು . ಇವರೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯ ಪರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಆಶ್ರಮ tagondu , ಇವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಕರ್ಶಣ ಒಡೆಯರು ಅಂತ ನಾಮಕರಣ ಆಯಿತು . ಅತ್ಯದ್ಭುತ ಜ್ಞಾನ ವೈರಾಗ್ಯ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳು ಸಂಕರ್ಶಣ ಒಡೆಯರು . ತಿರುಪತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ದೇವರ , ಉಡುಪಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸೇವೆ ಉಪಾಸನೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು . ಶ್ರೀ ಜಗನ್ನಾಥ ದಾಸರ ಶ್ರೀ ಹರಿಕಥಾಮೃತಸಾರ ಕ್ಕೆ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಟ ವಾದ ವ್ಯಾಖಾನ ರಚಿಸಿ ಬಹಳ ದೊಡ್ದ ಉಪಕಾರ ಇಡೀ ಮಾಧ್ವ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಹಾನುಭಾವರು.
ಹರಿಕಥಾಮೃತಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಢ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಟ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ , ಸರ್ವಮಾನ್ಯ ವಾದ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಸಂಕರ್ಶಣ ಒಡೆಯರದ್ದು . ಸೋದೆ ಮಠದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶ್ವಪ್ರಿಯ ತೀರ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಯೂ ಇವರ ಪಾಠ ಆಗಿದೆ.

ಸಂಕರ್ಷಣ ಒಡೆಯರ್ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಆರಾಧನಾ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವ
ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸುಧಾಗ್ರಂಥ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವ ಜಗನ್ನಾಥದಾಸರ ಶ್ರೀ ಹರಿಕಥಾಮೃತಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಬರೆದ ಪರಮ ಸಾತ್ವಿಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸಂಕರ್ಷಣ ಒಡೆಯರ್ರವರ ಆರಾಧನಾ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವ.
ಇವರ ಜನ್ಮನಾಮ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕ, ಇವರ ಕಾಲ 1810 - 1862 , ಇವರ ವಿದ್ಯಾಗುರುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಆಶ್ರಮ ಗುರುಗಳು ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು.
ಮಲಪ್ರಭಾ ನದಿತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದಿನ ಧಾರವಾಡ ಸಮೀಪದ ಒಂದು ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧೂಮಪ್ಪ ನಾಯಕ ಎಂಬ ಚಿನಿವಾರ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಸ್ಥ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಬಾಲಕನಿಗೆ ತಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟರು. ಇವರು ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಧರ್ಮ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದದಿಂದ ಜನಿಸಿದರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾತಕರ್ಮ ಉಪನಯನ ಆದ ನಂತರ ತಮ್ಮ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ಭೀಮಾವರಾಹಾಚಾರ್ ಎಂಬ ಪಂಡಿತರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯಿತು. ಆಚಾರ್ಯರ ಪಂಚಭೇಧ ತಾರತಮ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಏಕಾದಶಿ ವ್ರತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಆಚರಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಹನೀಯರು. ಭೀಮಾವರಾಹಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಇವರನ್ನು "ಋಷಿ" ಎಂದೇ ಸಂಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮ 21 ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮದುವೆಯಾದರು ಆದರೆ ದುರದೃಷ್ಟವಶಾತ್ ಇವರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಇವರ 22 ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅಕಾಲಿಕ ಮೃತ್ಯುಹೊಂದಿ ಹರಿಪಾದವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದರು. ಮತ್ತೆ ಎರಡನೇ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಲು ಮನಸ್ಸು ಒಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಸ್ವಲ್ಪದಿನಗಳಕಾಲ ತಮ್ಮ ಊರಿನಿಂದ ಉಡುಪಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋದೆ ಮಠದ ವೃಂದಾವನಚಾರ್ಯರೆಂದೇ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶ್ವಪ್ರಿಯ ತೀರ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಮದ್ವಪ್ರಣೀತ 37 ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸರ್ವಮೂಲ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.
ಹಿಂದೆ ಸತ್ಯಸಂಕಲ್ಪ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತೀವ ಬರದಿಂದ ಬಳಲಿಲದ ಜನರಿಗಾಗಿ ಉತ್ತರಾಧಿಮಠದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪವನ್ನು ಅಡವಿಟ್ಟು ಅದರಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಹಣದಿಂದ ನಿರಂತರ 12 ವರ್ಷ ಕರ್ಜಗಿ ಗುತ್ತಲ ವರದಪುರ ಎಂಬ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರಂತರ ಅನ್ನಧಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಹಾತ್ಮರು. ನಂತರ ಅವರ ಪೀಠದಲ್ಲೆ ಬಂದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯ ಸಂತುಷ್ಟ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಕೂಡ ಕೇವಲ ಮೂರೇ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೀಠದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ವೃಂದಾವನಸ್ಥರಾದರು. ಅನಂತರ ಬಂದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಮೂಲರಾಮದೇವರ ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವರಿಗೇಕೋ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣದ ರಾಮ ದೇವರ ವೈಭವ ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದೇ ಮಂಟಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಆಸೆಯಾಯಿತು. ಮಠದ ದಿವಾನರನ್ನು ಕರೆಸಿ ಕೇಳಿ ವಜ್ರ ಮಂಟಪ ಎಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಧಾರವಾಡದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮಣ್ಣ ಎಂಬ ಜಹಗೀರಾಧಾರ ಅಂದರೆ ಈ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕರ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಖಜಾನೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಮಾಡಿ ಪುನಃ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪ ಕೇಳಲು ಆಗಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲೇ ಮೂರುವರೆ ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಅದರ ಸಾಲ ಮತ್ತು ಬಡ್ಡಿಯ ಮೊತ್ತ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ರಾಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ ಸಾಲ ಮತ್ತು ಬಡ್ಡಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅದನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಆಗ ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ಹೇಗಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಿ ಪುನಃ ವಜ್ರ ಮಂಟಪ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ನಿರಂತರ ಸಂಚಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆಯಿಂದ ಎರಡು ಗಂಟೆಯವರೆಗೆ ಪಾದಪೂಜೆ ನಂತರ ರಾಮದೇವರ ಪೂಜೆ ಪುನಃ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಬೇರೆ ಊರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಟ್ಟಿಲ ಪೂಜೆ ಈರೀತಿ ತಮ್ಮ ದೈನಂದಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಂಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ರಾಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕ ತನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನಾಯಕನನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಬಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದ, ಅವರು ಎಷ್ಟು ದುಡ್ಡು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೋ ಅಷ್ಟು ಲೆಕ್ಕಹಾಕಿ ಸರಿಯಿದೆ ಎಂದಮೇಲೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪವನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.
ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು ದಿನ ಸಂಚಾರದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಸುಧಾಪಾಠ ಹೇಳಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ಕೂಡ ಸುಧಾಪಾಠವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಆನಂದ ಹೊಂದುತ್ತಾರೆ. ದಾಸರ ಮಂಚಬಾರದು ಮಡದಿ ಬಾರಳು ಕಂಚು ಕನ್ನಡಿ ಬಾರದು ಎಂಬ ಪದಗಳು ಇವರಿಗೆ ಮನದಟ್ಟಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇತ್ತ ಸುಧಾಮಂಗಳದ ಕಾಲವು ಸಮೀಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ರಾತ್ರಿಯೆಲ್ಲ ಯೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಣ್ಣ ರಾಮಣ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಪತ್ರ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಬಡ್ಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಲದ ಹಣವು ಸಂದಾಯ ವಾಗಿದೆ ಕೂಡಲೇ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳಿಸು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಕೂಡಲೇ ರಾಮಣ್ಣ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ಸಮೇತ ಶ್ರೀಮಠ ಇದ್ದಕಡೆ ಬಂದು ಸೇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮರುದಿನ ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರಿಗೆ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಸ್ತಾಂತರಿಸಲು ಶ್ರೀಗಳು ಸಂತೋಷರಾಗಿ ವಜ್ರಮಂಟಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಮೂಲರಾಮ ವೇದವ್ಯಾಸರ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇತ್ತ ರಾಮಣ್ಣ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಣ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ಹಣವು ಇಲ್ಲ ಶ್ರೀಗಳ ಸಂಚಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರು ಯತಿಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಷ್ಟಪಡುವುದು ನೋಡಲಾಗದೆ ಈರೀತಿ ಮಾಡಿದೆ ಎನ್ನಲು ರಾಮಣ್ಣ ತುಂಬಾ ನಿಂದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನನ್ನ ಭಾಗದ ಆಸ್ತಿಎಲ್ಲ ಏನಿದೆ ಅದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿ ಎನ್ನಲು ರಾಮಣ್ಣ ಮತ್ತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಅಂತ್ಯಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ನಿನ್ನ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನಲು ಅವರು ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ ನನ್ನ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಈ ಅಶಾಶ್ವತವದ ಹಣದ ವ್ಯಾಮೋಹವೇ ಬೇಡ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಈ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿದ ಸತ್ಯ ಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು ತಮಣ್ಣನನ್ನ ಕರೆಸಿ ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ತಮ್ಮಣ್ಣ ನನಗೆ ಸನ್ಯಾಸಾಶ್ರಮ ಕೊಡಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯಪಾರಾಯಣ ತೀರ್ಥರು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ಸಂಕರ್ಷಣ ಒಡೆಯರ್ ಎಂಬ ಆಶ್ರಮನಾಮವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಭಗವಂತನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳಿಂದ ಮುಂದೆ ಜಗನ್ನಾಥ ದಾಸರ ಶ್ರೀ ಹರಿಕಥಾಮೃತ ಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಿರುಪತಿ ಶ್ರೀರಂಗಂ ಘಟಿಕಾಚಲ ಮುಂತಾದ ಕಡೆ ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯ ವ್ರತವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಭಗವಂತನ ವಿಶೇಷ ಅನುಗ್ರಹ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಮುಂದೆ ದುಂದುಭಿ ನಾಮ ಸಂವತ್ಸರ ಮಾರ್ಗಶೀರ್ಷ ಶುದ್ಧ ಚತುರ್ಥಿ, ಚೇಯರ್ ನದಿ ತೀರಾ, ಹನುಮ ಭೀಮ ಮಧ್ವರು ಒಂದೇ ವಿಗ್ರಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಸನ್ನಿದಾನ, ಮತ್ತು ಎಡರುಗದೆ ಶ್ರೀ ನರಸಿಂಹ ದೇವರ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಅದರ ನೆರಳು ಸದಾ ಇವರ ಬೃಂದಾವನ ಮಂದಿರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳುತ್ತಾ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಕರಾಂಪೂಂಡಿ ತಿರುಕೊಯಿಲೂರ್ ನಿಂದ ವಾಹನ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಇದೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಲೂ ದರ್ಶಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಮಹಾಸ್ಥಳ.
