Sri Vidyapati Theertha is the 31st saint after Sri Janardhana Theertha in the guru parampare of Krishnapura mutt.

Sri Vidyapati Theertha took Ashrama from Sri Vidyanidhi Theertha and died before his guru. So he did not rule the Peeta. He was called as ‘Padigaru Swamy’. He defeated pundits in Kashi vidyapeeta. He built one mutt in Prayaga and installed Mukhyaprana there. He took land in Padigaru a village near Udupi and built mutt there and installed idol of Muralidhara Gopala Krishna.it is believed that he used to have debate with Sri Rajendra Theertha of Puttige mutt many times. Once during such debate both became angry and cursed each other and both died in chikkapatta.
