Sri Vidyamurthy Theertha is the 5th saint after Sri Hrishikesha Theertha in the guru parampare of Palimar mutt.

Sri Vidyamurthy Theertha took Ashrama from Sri Aparajita Theertha and ruled Peeta for about 18 years. He is believed to be great scholar and was well versed with all Shastras. There is stone manuscript available about him during Harihara raya of Vijayanagar kingdom. He is believed to be contemporary of Sri Jaya Theertha. He initially gave Ashrama to Sri Rajarajeswara Theertha but Rajarajeswara Theertha entered heavenly adobe before him. So he gave Ashrama to one more person and named him Sri Srinidhi Theertha. Sri Rajarajeswara Theertha praised him as “Kshitisuraguru”. After handing over Peeta to Sri Srinidhi Theertha, it is said that he entered Vrundavana at Rameswaram but it needs to be confirmed after thorough research.

ಶ್ರೀ ಫಲಿಮಾರು ಮಠದ ಯತಿ ಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಮಹಾಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು, ಮಂಗಳಾಷ್ಟಕ ರಚಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜಾರಾಜೇಶ್ವರ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಗುರುಗಳು, ಶ್ರಿಮನ್ಯಾಯಸುಧಾ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಂಥವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಮಹಾ ಗುರುಗಳೂ, ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯತೀರ್ಥರರಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ಆತ್ಮೀಯತೆ ಯಿಂದ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯ ತೀರ್ಥರ ಮೂಲ ವೃಂದಾವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಾನ ಮಳಖೇಡ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಶ್ರೀ ಜಯತೀರ್ಥರ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ವೃಂದಾವನಸ್ಥರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿದ್ಯಾಮೂರ್ತಿ ತೀರ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀ ಪಾದಂಗಳವರ ಆರಾಧನ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವ. ಈ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಐದನೆಯ ಪೀಠಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಶ್ರೀವಿದ್ಯಾಮೂರ್ತಿತೀರ್ಥರು ಇವರು ಹೆಸರಿನಂತೇ ಘನವಿದ್ವತ್ತಿನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಪ್ರಕಾಂಡ ಪಂಡಿತರೆನಿಸಿದ ಇವರು ಅನೇಕ ಬಾರಿ ದುರ್ವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಾದದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಜಯಶೀಲರಾದವರು. ಮಾಧ್ವಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬ ಮಹಾನ್ ದಿಗ್ಗಜರಾದ ಶ್ರೀಮನ್ನ್ಯಾಯಸುಧೆಯ ಕರ್ತೃಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀಮಟ್ಟೀಕಾಕೃತ್ಪಾದರ ಸಮಕಾಲೀನರು ಶ್ರೀವಿದ್ಯಾಮೂರ್ತಿತೀರ್ಥರು. ಇವರ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದಾಗ ಶ್ರೀಟೀಕಾಕೃತ್ಪಾದರು ಹಾಗೂ ಇವರು ಜೊತೆಯಾಗಿಯೇ ತತ್ವಪ್ರಚಾರವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರಬೇಕು. ಹನ್ನೊಂದು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಪೀಠವನ್ನಾಳಿದ ಇವರು ಪ್ಲವಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ವೈಶಾಖಶುದ್ಧ ಅಷ್ಟಮೀ ದಿನದಂದು ಮಳಖೇಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗವಂತನ ಪಾದವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದರು. The fifth seer in this lineage is Shri Vidyamurti Teertha. He was profoundly erudite akin to his name. Known as an excellent scholar, he defeated opponents making wrong arguments in debates and emerged victorious several times. Shri Vidyamurti Teertha is a contemporary of another great luminary Shri Teekakritpaada who was the writer of Shrimanyayasudha. Observing their disposition, it is quite possible that he and Shri Teekakritpaada have together engaged in propounding the philosophy.
