As Sri. Vidyavijaya Theertha expired in 1942, his guru Vidyaviraja Theertha who had earlier ruled during the period from 1919 to 1935, became the pontiff again in 1935. He was the pontiff for the second time during the period from 1935 to 1947.
The kaNva maTa was started for shukla yajurvEdis by shri laxmImanOhara tIrtharu of shirUr maTa in 1766. He initiated shri venkateshacharya from the shukla yajurvEdi community into sanyAsa and named him mAdhava tIrtharu. The parampare continues to this day.
